HubSpot Marketing Hub

Marketing Hub is the email, landing page and campaign layer sitting on top of HubSpot’s CRM. It is also the hub where the price moves on you, because the billing runs on marketing contacts rather than seats.

Seats, then contacts

Starter is $20 a seat. Pay annually up front and it drops to $15. Professional starts at $890 a month with three seats included, and once you go past the contact tier that comes with it, the price climbs with the size of your marketing list.

That last part is what catches people out. The headline is a floor, not a bill. If your list doubles, so does a meaningful chunk of what you pay, and there is no version of this going well where the list stays still.

Keeping it down

The lever that works

Only marketing contacts count. Anyone you are not actively emailing can be marked non-marketing, and they drop straight out of the tier calculation. Most accounts are carrying hundreds of them. Past customers, suppliers, dead leads, people who unsubscribed years ago.

Clean that list before you upgrade, not after. It is the cheapest hour of work in the whole platform.

What it will not do

The gap for local businesses

It will send the campaign, capture the lead and nurture it along. What it will not do is ask the customer for a Google review once the work is finished, and for a local business that one review does more for the next sale than the campaign did for this one.

Automatic reviews

The marketing that runs after the sale

Trophy Jar fires off the deal stage you choose in HubSpot and asks that customer for a Google review by text or email. It costs $9 a month regardless of how big your contact list gets. 100 texts a month are included on the $9 plan and 1,000 on the $19 plan, sent from your own local number, and we handle 10DLC registration for US businesses.
